CAE is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is run by a Board of volunteers with a wide range of business, legal, media and financial experience. The Board sets the overall direction and supports the development of the charity, ensures our services meet the needs of the local community and the Citizens Advice Scotland membership standards and employs CAE staff and controls finances.

SANDY DUCKETT MBA - CHAIR
ROBERT PATTULLO – VICE CHAIR
Sandy is Customer Services Director of Standard Life and previously he was Group Corporate Services Director and Head of Procurement. Prior to working for Standard Life, he was UK Procurement Director of Scottish Power and held other posts within Scottish Power. Sandy is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Robert is an accountant by training. He is an experienced non-executive director with a track record of raising finance and turning round loss making companies. He has an extensive network within the Scottish business and financial community. Most recently he has been a Director of Archangel Informal Investment Limited. Prior to that he has been a self employed management consultant, Sales and Operations Director Clydesdale Retail Ltd, Commercial Director Star Offshore Services and held a range of posts in Christian Salvesen PLC.

Paul Beswick BA, BSc, PhD, FHEA
Paul has an academic background in biomedicine and management. He is Chair of his local Community Council and is currently a volunteer adviser at the Leith CAE office.
 
Joan Burnie
Joan is Associate editor the Daily Record. She Contributes to Radio 4, Radio Scotland and Radio 5. She is semi-retired, a mother, grandmother and dog owner.
 
Niall Campbell (Company Secretary)
Formerly Chair of Pilton CAB 2001 – 07. Niall is a retired Scottish Office Civil Servant and worked in the fields of education, transport, local government finance, social work, civil and criminal law. Member of the Parole Board for Scotland 2003-09. Chair of SACRO 2002-07. Niall is currently Treasurer for the British Trust for Ornithology.
 
Craig Cathcart LLB Dip LP DTS
Craig Cathcart is an academic and writer, currently working at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Craig teaches and writes across a range of issues, from law to management, marketing, economics and consumer affairs. Prior to this Craig was a Trading Standards Officer.
 
Mike Cornbleet
Mike is a retired doctor and worked as a consultant in medical and paediatric oncology at the Western General Hospital, as medical director of the Marie Curie Hospice, Edinburgh and as a senior medical officer in the then Scottish Executive Health Department. Mike is chairman of the Scotland Committee of the Stroke Association and is a trustee of the UK charity. He is a volunteer adviser at the Leith CAE office.
 
Robin Garrett
Robin is a solicitor. He was a partner in Steedman Ramage 1987 – 98 and in Maclay Murray and Spens 1998- 2010. Robin is currently Director of Abbotsford House Ltd, a business consultancy.
 
Stuart Gibson BA, Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland
Stuart is our Treasurer. He ran the European Telecoms, Media and Technology finance group within HBOS and is now a Chamber of Commerce mentor to growing SME companies. As CAE Treasurer, he is responsible for good governance and prudent cash management. Off duty, Stuart enjoys golf, walking and travel.
 
Andrew Henderson MA
Andrew leads Community Investment projects for RBS and has a background in public affairs and strategic communications.
 
Alison Palmer
Alison has been a volunteer adviser at Dundas Street Bureau for 5 years. Before she retired, she was a civil servant working in various roles in the then Scottish Executive and latterly for a short time in the NHS.
 
Agnes Robson MA
A volunteer adviser at the Dundas Street CAE office since September 2006. Her previous career was in the public sector including energy and urban policy, health and corporate services. A former member of the Scottish Executive Management Board; currently also on the Boards of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Health Council.
 
Simon Shearer BSc, FFA
Simon Shearer is a retired actuary who has volunteered at the Dundas Street CAE office for over 5 years. He is involved in many other voluntary activities in Edinburgh and in his spare time likes to travel, swim and cycle.
 
Howard Wollman
Howard retired in 2010 after 35 years as a sociologist at Edinburgh Napier University. He served in a variety of positions latterly as Head of the School of Health and Social Sciences. His previous roles also included experience as a trade union representative and he was at one time Vice Chair of the Educational Institute of Scotland – University Lecturers Association. For ten years he was a staff member of the Napier University Court and he is currently Vice-Chair of the British Sociological Association. He has an honorary fellowship in the School of Social and Political Science at Edinburgh University. Howard is a volunteer adviser in the Leith CAE office.
 
Our CEO is Moira Tasker MA(hons), MSc who has a background of valuable service in the charity sector. Moira joined CAE in October 2009. She was formerly Director of Edinburgh’s Civic Trust (Cockburn Association) and has worked in the private, public and charity sectors. 

HONORARY ADVISER

OTTO THORESEN MA FFA

Otto Thoresen was brought up in Buckie in the North East of Scotland. Otto is Director-General of the Association of British Insurers and was Chief Executive of AEGON UK from 2005 - 2011. He chaired an independent Treasury Review in 2008 which led to the planned launch of a national generic financial advice service, and is Chair of the Personal Finance Education Group. Otto was Vice Chair of Citizens Advice Edinburgh from 2010 – 2011 and continues to assist us as an Honorary Adviser.
